| NAME dfpm.exe -- disk free, with additions SYNOPSIS dfpm [-2 -top -left -right -ip -dce -page -packet -scsi] DESCRIPTION The dfpm tool is a graphical utility which displays CPU usage(s), physical memory available, paging memory available, local free/total disk space, network shares (with percent full graph), IP address(es), packet count(s), and DCE processes. In each case, the data is displayed in text over a colored bar. In some cases, when resources are tight, the bar will go red to indicate attention is required. For example, a local disk within 10% of capacity will change from yellow to red. A shortage of paging space will change the paging graph from dark green to red, and exessive CPU usilization of a DCE process will also be indicated. Windows 2000-specific features include adjustable transparancy mode, the interface name on the packet count bars, and multiple monitor support (two at present). OPTIONS -2 Display on second monitor -top Always on top -scsi Enable SCSI probing [ASPI only at present] which will scan the scsi bus and enumerate devices. Devices other than disks are scanned every 30 seconds and go red if the device becomes disconnected. Adaptec and other ASPI-compliant drivers supported. -left Display on bottom left (default) -right Display on bottom right -ip Display IP address(es) (default) -removable or -cf Display compact flash cards etc. -dce Display DCE darmon detail (each daemon on its own line). The salmon graph is the working set of the DCE process (or processes in single-line mode) as a percentage of total applications' working sets. The green CPU graph normally 'hides' behind the salmon working set graph, but will be exposed when %CPU usage exceeds %working set. -page Shows hard page faults, which require a hit to disk. This is a valuable indication of swapping activity. -packet Shows packet activity on instanciated network interfaces (which includes the loopback interface). These options can be invoked either from the command line (when DFPM is added to the Startup folder, for example), or by right-clicking the application to get the popup menu. DCE package versions can be viewed from the registry as well as from the core library, by selecting "Show DCE Version" from the popup menu. EXAMPLE The following might be added to the Startup folder C:/bin/dfpm.exe -2 -right -packet -top -scsi In this example, when -top is selected from the command line, the transparancy is set to 50%. This can be adjusted with the up/down arrows or from the popup menu. VERSIONS The current product version is 4.0X | ![]() Download here (only 49k!) | |||||
